Indoor Plants That Thrive By Sunny Windows

Indoor Plants That Thrive By Sunny Windows

We have already discussed SIX OF THE EASIEST HOUSEPLANTS let’s now look at houseplants that love the sunshine as much as we do here in SoCal!

Here are the best indoor plants for those big sunny French door windows that we so are accustomed to here in San Diego.

1 - CROTON

Not only are Croton an easy way to add a majestic splash of color to your living space, they are also sun lovers, making them the ideal SoCal plant.

Their amazing leaves range in color from deep burgundy, to sunny yellow, burnt orange and lime green.

They require six to eight hours of direct sunlight every day to maintain and produce its gorgeous foliage. Watering a Croton plant depends on the situation. Check if the soil is dry before watering to avoid overwatering and root rot. Keep your Croton plant evenly moist in the summer.

2 - Ponytail Palm

The Ponytail Palm can add a touch of tropical vibe to your room, it requires bright light, but it can also tolerate full sun.

Keep in mind that ponytail palms are succulents so they can thrive periods without water. Let the top two to three inches of soil dry out between watering.

3 - Hibiscus

While hibiscus grow beautifully when planted directly into the ground, they also make phenomenal indoor plants. Their blooms are stunning and add an exotic touch to any room. Keep in mind they need about six hours of sunlight every day to bloom. The more light they get, the better they will bloom. Keep the soil consistently moist, so water it when the top inch of the soil is dry.

4 - Aloe Vera

Not only aloe vera can enjoy sunbathing right next to you, it can also help your skin heal if you fall victim of those petty sunburns we tend to fall victim to every summer.

Aloe Vera is one the low-maintenance indoor plants for sunny windows because it prefers bright light for at least six to eight hours every day, preferably every morning. The leaves of your Aloe Vera plant will drop downwards if it does not receive enough light. As a rule of thumb, water your Aloe Vera plant only when the soil is completely dry.

5 - Mother In Law Tongue - Snake Plant

Talk about adding drama to your room! The Snake Plants leaves are the ultimate dramatic almost architectural accent , they come in both green or variegated tones and are just a modernist dream.

They require minimal maintenance and love the light…and the heat.

6 - Kalanchoes

These succulents gift colorful blooms ranging from red to yellow, hot pink to blush. They are a fairly low mainatainance plant but are needy of bright lights. They are drought resistance and like to dry out in between waterings.
