Ficus Ginseng Bonsai

Ginseng bonsai is by far one of my favorite, I just love the many shapes its trunk offers and to be honest it is so easy to care for that any beginners can find ample success with it.

Its strong root and trunk and the deep timed oval shaped leaves symbolize the simplicity and balance of nature.

Here are some basic things to keep in mind when caring for your Ficus Ginseng Bonsai:

  • It appreciates the mellow temperatures usually of indoors in apartments and houses, ideally from 60 to 75°F (15 to 25°C).

  • It strives in bright indirect lights, and must be kept away from direct sunlight. .

  • It dislikes drafty spots.

  • Ficus It does not like changes in temperatures so it must be kept away from heating vents and air conditioners.

  • It requires repotting every couple of years.

In rare cases, if it’s cared for perfectly and environmental conditions are perfect, your Ficus ginseng might even bloom and bear fruit!

WATERING:

  • Water the ficus only when the surface of the soil is really dry.

  • Ficus ginseng doesn’t like standing water. Empty the saucer after having watered.

  • Your ficus ginseng will appreciate having its leaves cleaned often with a rag or a moist paper towel.

  • It loves it when air moisture is high.so you can mist the leaves often with soft water, especially in winter.

Repotting Ficus ginseng :

Replant your Ficus in the spring every two years. During Spring its leaves and root growth is highest.

  • Let the pot dry out without watering for 2-3 days.

  • Select a pot that is one size larger than the previous, ensure it drains well.

  • Keep soil from leeching out with mesh wire and gravel or clay pebbles at the bottom.

  • Use new bonsai potting soil mix to replenish nutrients.

At this point, if you aim to maintain your bonsai at a small size it’s good practice to trim branches back by about a third.
