Sunday Funday
It is hard to believe April is already coming to an end, it seems this stay home order has completely blurred the lines of time for me, not to mention the 85 degree weather is adding to this confusion making it feel more and more like summer.
I am a busy bee by nature and I missed the crazy weekday schedules of juggling two kids and a small business but I have to admit I enjoyed this time of personal reflection and of course the extra baking time with the kids, the movie nights and the struggling puzzle evenings…the lazy Sundays kinda melted in with Mondays, and Tuesdays…and I learned that this is perfectly ok right now.
Still my favorite days are Sundays…..they start out very relaxed with a very quick yoga routine…and some nice Tibetan Incense .
This is generally followed by a few cups of coffee and a few trips to refill the watering can. I started this year wanting to jungle up my house because i truly believe houseplants work magic on our physical and mental health, the goal is to eventually have 400 houseplants….I have about 70 indoor plants and have to tell you the watering routine is pretty intense but extremely relaxing as well.
Luckily for me most of my plants are pretty easy to care for…..with the exclusion of my sword fern…which didn’t last long..yes me and ferns again.
The rest of my day is divided between playing with the kids , and cooking and of course PROPAGATING SUCCULENTS , which has been a favorite project of mine for years.
You can propagate succulents easily both from leaves or from cuttings. I prefer cuttings just because it is a bit quicker to produce large plants that can be use in dish gardens.
STEP!: Cut your cutting from the plant leaving at least 1/2 inch of stem if possible.
STEP 2 : Let the stem of your cutting air dry for 3 to 4 days, up to a week if you have a large cutting
STEP 3: Plant the cutting in soil and water a couple of times each week to speed up the rooting process
STEP 4 : Enjoy your growing succulent Pup
Sunday cooking is all about family fun and comfort.
Here is one of my favorite recipe that often makes it way around our kitchen on Sundays.
It is super easy and delicious and most important it lends itself so well to meal prep, the tofu part at least,I usually make a couple of block ahead of time, then I assemble the sandwich right before we seat down for lunch.
Some I season with BBQ sauce ( Bone Sucking Sauce ) , Some with Terriaki Sauce ( Very Very Terriaki ) and some just with salt pepper and paprika.
