Endless Summer
Yes yes, labor day was just here but that's no excuse!!!!
All of a sudden you start to see fall decor in stores, your e-mails are bombarded with daily halloween costumes choices, Thanksgiving meal ideas are on every food show, blog and magazine....
But wait, we are in San Diego, the sky has no visible cloud and it is 80 degrees! If you are anything like me you are spending every free moment at the beach getting your toes wet...not to mention SUMMER IS NOT OVER until the equinox!
I love fall colors but I am not quite ready to put my coat on yet and pack my flip flops... I would like to hold on a bit longer to the bright and fun textures of the summer floral palette. The lively oranges, the lemony yellows, the vivid greens.
This "Summery" arrangement rightfully called "L'Ete' De L'amour" - "The Summer of Love" I used this palette to embody the vibrance of the SoCal summer, its warmth and its undeniable fun.
White hydrangeas create the base for this textural game of color. Orange balloon dahlias, orange pin cushions, coxcomb celosia, are the textural element of this arrangements contrasted by green cymbidium for that touch of exotic beauty I often equate with the Southern California shores. Green ball dianthus were chosen for that added element of fun and Boston ferns added direction and movement to the vase maintaining the same brilliant hue of green. Bright yellow roses were used because they matched the inside part of the green orchid bringing the entire design together, orange ranunculus and parrot tulips added two more texture to the arrangement adding yet another layer of fun.
The container itself is textural element of the design and being a ceramic container it nicely hides the messy construction of the final product.
You can hold on to summer a bit longer with this lovely arrangement that can be purchased here :
